Rick, I appreciate your forward thinking ideas and actions. As we finish off the start of a new millineum, and prepare to begin a new century nothing is more appropriate for RIM than vision. This morning I read an article about IBM efforts to build computers for the exciting area of Genome research. It mentioned the goal is to achieve the Petaflop speed. More remarkably it spoke of involving formerly disparate areas in seeking to optimize information. With these kinds of developments consistently making headlines, it is clear that a "stand-still" approach to any information related discipline is doomed to take a back seat and very quickly. I become more concerned for records management because of the kinds of questions and dialog that dominates the forum. Most seem myopic if not retro e.g. are electronic records different from paper records? who has a good e-mail policy? how do you thaw out frozen documents? While these are good basic issues, they are not profound enough to make Records Managers think ahead and become real managers, planners and thinkers. In my view, sites like yours are the kinds of elements we need to break the mold , leap out of the box and into the future. Again I appreciate your efforts.

Just been to your presentation in Wellington (22/3/99). So I'm pretty desperate to gather up all the background material you talked about and presented on your slides. We are currently trying to do a records management project "by committee" (which collectively contains virtually no records management experience I may add) and one of my jobs has been to review the best practice literature. This is obviously an onging task. And one cannot become an "instant expert."

Searching for your site on the world wide web has taught me more about your basketball playing namesake and his four sons than I ever thought I'd know. Can you slam-dunk like Brent?
Anyway, good site but why so many "moving things". It's kind of distracting and more like a retail site.

Thanks for the invitation to visit, I particularly appreciate the information from the NAGARA conference. To have access to this information so soon after the conference, rather than wait up to a year for Proceedings to be published is excellent! The issues discussed and links provided are particularly useful and relevant to anyone concerned with providing and preserving understanding.

Hi, how are you Rick. I was at the TRIM Forum with Tower Software last year, I am the Records Manager for Joint House Department of Parliament House. I have recently joined the Records Management List serve, and like most other companies and government departments are still searching for the answers to management of electronic records and preservation of activities and history.
